THE ULTIMATE

- PROTECTION -

FOR BOTH MOTORS AND GENERATORS

A major breakthrough in modern technology that automatically monitors the motor winding insulation resistance for all motors and generators.

The SUBMEG/AUTOMEG electronics module is a compact and completely solid state 12 pin plug-in instrument that can be installed into new or existing control panels.

The SUBMEG/AUTOMEG

The instrument is designed to produce a low current, high voltage which is applied to the motor winding. The circuit includes means for measuring leakage currents and for triggering alarms for selected levels of leakage. These alarms may be the existing high level alarm light and horn, or can be wired into the telemetering terminal board. The SUBMEG/AUTOMEG module includes a green sunlight visible LED display light to indicate power and a red sunlight visible LED display light to indicate one (1) megohm motor winding leakage resistance to ground. The SUBMEG/AUTOMEG module will automatically alarm if the motor winding leakage resistance drops to one (1) megohm or less. An optional model that inhibits the motor from starting at a low meg reading is also available(Submeg only). A motor reset button is included along with a by-pass switch so that the SUBMEG/AUTOMEG can be by-passed in the event of an emergency situation.

A new feature of the SUBMEG/AUTOMEG module is a manual test button to test the internal circuitry of the SUBMEG/AUTOMEG. Also included is a yellow LED that has been added to indicate when 500 volts DC is applied to the motor windings before starting. This latest major breakthrough in preventative maintenance eliminates the need for an electrician to manually test the insulation resistance of the motors.

In addition to the relatively low cost of the versatile SUBMEG/AUTOMEG module, savings are compounded because of the fact that motor burnouts (due to moisture penetration) and motor failure emergencies will be virtually eliminated and repair work can now be efficiently scheduled.

SPECIFICATIONS

Install one (1) completely enclosed solid state 12 pin plug-in electronics module to automatically monitor the motor winding insulation resistance. Each insulation tester must have a motor reset button and an emergency by-pass switch. Each automatic megger must have a power indicator light and a low megohm indicator light. Power source is to be 110 volts AC fused at 1.0 amp. The DC test voltage to be 500 volts. The output current to be limited to less than 3 micro amp. Must also have one (1) output circuit for external alarms.

When the motor winding leakage resistance drops to one (1) megohm an alarm system must be activated by the internal circuit of the insulation tester. The insulation tester shall measure the motor insulation resistance for no more than 15 seconds when the motor is off. Each automatic insulation tester must also include a test button to test the internal circuitry. The insulation tester is to be manufactured by AUTOMEG, Inc. or be an approved equal. Devices using DC test voltages less than 500 volts and devices that continuously apply 500 volts DC to the idle motors are not to be considered equal.

ABOUT US

After 15 years of traveling the country manually testing motor winding insulation resistance, Joe Horvath realized the need for an automatic insulation tester. In 1982 Joe teamed up with Jim Miller and together they created the world's first truly automatic insulation resistance tester and AUTOMEG, Inc.was born. In 1990 Ralph Chin was contracted to develop the Phasemeg. The company now holds three separate U.S. patents. In 2002 AUTOMEG, Inc. celebrated its 20th anniversary.
